Van UX People’s Choice Award

The Van UX awards happened last week and the People’s Choice Award was won by a project team from my offering the IAT 499 Graduation Project course. The team consisted of Aron Chen, Gabriel Yeung, and Venus Lau for their Inclusive Postpartum Care project with Stevie Nguyen as their industry mentor. This project uses responsive mobile web searches to deliver credible postpartum depression information in an easy-to-digest format. Tackling the problem of better supporting people living in low-income areas that may be affected by postpartum depression with a design intervention is very complex and fraught with potential unintended consequences. I am impressed that the team stuck with this problem and tirelessly worked to nail down the rationale for their design problem framing and intervention scope with meticulously well considered design decisions.

The People’s Choice award is voted on by all attendees and is open to all projects that made it as finalists (competing with many real industry professional design projects).   You can find in depth documentation of this project via Gabriel Yueng’s portfolio here: https://gabrielyeung.com/google-health-cards/
